Silver Medal Stars of the Silver Screen - Proof

The Czech Mint commemorates personalities of Czechoslovak cinematography by a free cycle entitled Stars of the silver screen. It released a silver commemorative medal of the unforgettable František Filipovský after Karel Fiala, Rudolf Hrušínský, Vladimír Menšík and Jiří Kodet.

The versatile actor shone in theater, on silver and television screens. But he excelled perhaps even more in dubbing. The name of Louis de Funès is inherently connected with the voice of František Filipovský. We would hardly be looking for someone who did not know the police officer Ludovic Cruchot, whose enthusiasm for police work gave rise to a six-part series launched by the Gendarme of Saint Tropez. Moreover, there are the commissioner Juve and the mysterious criminal Fantomas. Obviously, the owner of the Fourchauma shipyard from the comedy The Little Bather, the discipline- obsessed choreographer Evans from the musical film Piti Piti Pa, Minister Don Sallust, who intrigues in the court of the King of Spain in the historic Delusions of Grandeur. 

“I always feel embarrassed – let´s say feeling of inferiority. It seems to me like plagiarism that I profit from a beautiful, gorgeous, brilliant comic performance,” František Filipovský once said. But his modesty and worry were not appropriate. A number of French comedies featuring a cheeky choleric man would certainly not become famous without his masterful performance. Dubbing performed by František Filipovský was such an extraordinary experience that his colleagues went to see him in the recording studio. He did not dub Louis de Funès, he played his role again and added something of himself. Since 1995 the dubbing artists are awarded the František Filipovský Award in honor of František Filipovský. The Czech Mint became its official partner since 2019.

On the commemorative medal of the medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek you will find two portraits of František Filipovský. The first one is traditional and the second one, which is also the logo of the František Filipovský Award, is stylized.

An integral part of the medal is a special packaging that represents the actor and his most famous roles.
