The Czech flag

The gold coin of the Czech Mint, weighing five troy ounces, recalls the straight century of the Czechoslovak and Czech flags.

Heraldic scenes were hand-embroidered on the banners in the past, but their mass production was demanding. Therefore, the historical battalion of the Czech Kingdom consisted of two stripes, which symbolized the elements of the state emblem. The silver lion was represented by an upper white stripe and a red shield was represented by a lower red stripe. This simple but elegant combination was generally perceived as the Czech national symbol after the revolutionary year of 1848, therefore, after the end of the First World War it was reflected in the first Czechoslovak flag. However, the Poles also chose the same red and white flag, so it was decided to create a new proposal. From the innumerable variants presented by the stars or the Hussite chalice, a form was finally chosen in 1920, where a third in the form of a blue wedge was added to the original two colors. This represented Slovakia and Subcarpathian Russia during the First Republic. Although these countries are no longer part of the Czech Republic, we continue to use the flag, which we all know and which we are proud of.
