Wareneinschätzung:
Every schoolchild knows the most important battles of the Hussite wars, and the one near to Domažlice must not be missing among them. The famous victory is commemorated by the silver commemorative medal of the Czech Mint.

Although Jan Žižka was dead at the time, the Hussites were at the peak of their powers in 1431. Their internal strife subsided and Jan Hus's ideas managed to spread beyond the borders of the Czech lands. However, the representatives of Catholic Europe organized the fourth cruciate after three unsuccessful crusades, which the Kaliszians managed to repel. It was the largest in terms of strength and amount of money spent. The crusader army of one hundred thousand men first tried to conquer the Hussite Tachov, but after the failure it moved to Domažlice, which it intended to gain as a stronghold. The Hussite army, led by the ingenious strategist Prokop Holý, was not even half that, but the speed with which it gathered near Domažlice surprised the pope. After hearing the famous chorale "Who are God's warriors", the startled divisions of the Crusaders began to withdraw hastily from the advanced positions, which their confused and frightened comrades of the main line interpreted as a retreat. A rapid escape followed. The crusader commanders could do nothing to prevent panic and eventually had to join their men. The papal legate Giuliano Cesarini, who was commissioned to organize the crusade, lost his cardinal's hat on the run, which then became a symbol of triumph over the Catholic Church. Humiliated Europe then finally understood that the Czechs would not be conquered by force, and began to negotiate with the Hussites…

Academic sculptor Zbynìk Fojtù became the author of the commemorative medal, which is inspired by the famous painting by Mikoláš Alš. The reverse side is dedicated to the Hussite cavalry that drives enemies in front of it, and to the inscription KTOŽ JSÚ BOŽÍ BOJOVNÍCI A ZÁKONA JEHO (WHO ARE GOD'S FIGHTERS AND OF HIS LAW). The obverse side then presents the fleeing crusaders, together with Cardinal Cesarini, who is losing his hat. The obverse side bears the inscription BITVA U DOMAŽLIC -17. 8. 1431 (BATTLE OF DOMAŽLICE - 17. 8. 1431).
