The Mint of Poland presents a new unique collection of five silver coins of irregular shapes, which form a puzzle. In production of the coins the technology of highly precise multicolour pad printing, as also rare in numismatics technology of microprinting were applied. The coins depict the main architectural attractions of Odessa and outstanding personalities who made important contributions to the history of this beautiful southern city.

C o m m o n   o b v e r s e :
In the central part of each coin – an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with inscriptions around it: ELIZABETH II, NIUE ISLAND (the issuer), 2 DOLLARS (the face value), the mint mark (m/w), Ag 925 (the metal and its purity), 2013 (the year of issue).

R e v e r s e s :

  • The central coin presents the Potemkin Stairs at the top of which stands the statue of Odessa’s first Governor Armand-Emmanuel du Plessis, Duc de Richelieu.
  • The top coin depicts the facade of the Odessa City Hall (formerly the Old Stock Exchange), as also its famous clock surrounded by the figures of Day and Night on both sides.
  • The bottom coin shows the majestic Colonnade in front of the Vorontsov Palace at the Primorsky Boulevard guarded by impressive sculptures of lions.
  • On the left coin there is a pad-printed portrait of Tsarina Catherine II, also known as Catherine the Great. On the left of the portrait there is a microprinted inscription saying: “On the 2nd of September
    1794 by decree of Catherine II there started a construction of a trade port on the Black Sea”.
  • The right coin presents a pad-printed portrait of Odessa’s first Governor Duc de Richelieu. On the left there is a microprinted extract from the book “Lettres sur Odessa” by his friend, associate and companion Charles Sicard.
