The gold coins of the Czech Mint from the sport cycle "Legends of Czech Hockey" give tribute to the "golden boys" on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Olympic triumph in Nagano. The first is David Moravec.
"Moravec... David Moravec... Goaaal! Welcome, golden hattrick! We are world champions for the third time in the row!" Who of the hockey fans would not know the excited scream of sports commentator Robert Záruba from 2001. The czech team played the final game against the Finns at the World Championship. It was middle striker David Moravec, who won an unprecedented string of hockey triumphs. The czech "gold boys" to which David Moravec inherently belonged won the gold medal in Nagano in 1998 and they achieved the gold medal of the World Championship in 1999, 2000 and 2001. David Moravec attended the first and the third championships, and scored the final decisive goal. The extraordinary success has been proven by the fact that gold hattrick has never been able to capture anyone in the world.
This commemorative coin was made by an expert medal maker and pedagogue MgA. Josef Oplištil. On the reverse side there is a faithful portrait of the attacker, supplemented by the number of his jersey 22 and surrounded by the inscription DAVID MORAVEC - THE TITLE OF THE WORLD MASTER 1999, 2001. The coins of the Czech Mint are issued under the license of the State of Samoa, and their obverse side therefore bears the necessary attributes of this foreign issuer. It means the name and the profile of Queen Elizabeth II., the national emblem, the year of the issue 2018, together with the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (WST).
Coins, which are issued in a limited amount of only 200 pieces, can be stored in a special collector´s etui in the form of a puck.
