Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia
The final gold ducat from the miniseries of the Czech Mint, which was published on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, pays tribute to the heroes of the public resistance.

Officers and politicians formed illegal organizations in conspiracy flats or in deep forests and inaccessible mountains. The artists wrote anti-occupation texts and created anti-Nazi drawings in their offices and studios. Workers sabotaged in arms factories without witnesses ... The purpose of the public resistance was to demonstrate the desire for the restoration of Czechoslovakia and resistance to the Nazi occupation... Public protests took many forms. It could be the participation in an assembly that was permitted, but in fact had an anti-occupation character. Thousands of people participated these events, such as religious pilgrimages or the transfer of the remains of Karel Hynek Mácha to Vyšehrad. Not even an unauthorized assembly was an exception - for example, the largest anti-Nazi demonstration in occupied Europe, in which Jan Opletal was mortally wounded. This event caused a wave of brutality and persecution that paralyzed public activities. The inhabitants of the Protectorate, however, were not discouraged, just chose other, less striking ways of protest. They could also express their defiance by wearing eccentric clothing or fashion accessories that referred to the Masaryk Republic. The nation was given the opportunity to rebel against the oppressors at the very end of the war – during the Prague Uprising.

Mgr. Petr Horák dedicated the obverse side of the ducat to the Prague Uprising. A scene supplemented with the inscription PRAGUE NEEDS HELP! presents two ordinary Czechs in civilian clothes who defend a barricade composed of cobblestones with rifles in their hands. The inscription presents PUBLIC RESISTANCE 1939–1945. The reverse side of the mintage, which is the work of the academic sculptor Jan Lukáš, presents a map of the Protectorate shaded by the wings of the Nazi eagle. The composition of the reverse side is supplemented by the years 1939 and 1945, together with the inscription PROTECTORATE OF BOHEMIA AND MORAVIA in Czech and German.

Special packaging in the form of a book containing period photographs and a treatise by the renowned historian PhDr. Petr Koura, Ph.D. builds an integral part of the ducat. Remember that you can store the set of all four ducats in the collector´s box
