The attributes that define and represent our sovereign state inside and outside have become the motif of the traditional ducats of the Czech Republic in 2018, when we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the independent Czech Republic. One ducat, the smallest gold ducat mintage, was dedicated to the Czech currency.
Every sovereign state has the right to create a monetary system and choose its own currency. It becomes a means of exchange, a co-operative and a value-seeker, but also an expression of economic sovereignty respected at home and on foreign financial markets. The currency is not just a legal tender, however, it is also an expression of national identity. It presents a unique testimony of the political and economic situation of the state and becomes a reflection of the past that tells of which historical and cultural legacy is appreciated by society.
The author od this ducat is an expert academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů. He was inspired by a ten-crown circulating coin dominated by Petrov, the cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. The inscriptions on the obverse side represent 1 DUCAT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC - CURRENCY. The reverse side carries the originally conceived heraldic animals, which are the Czech lion, the Moravian eagle and the Silesian eagle, supplemented by the text 2018 - 25 YEARS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC.
The gold mintage comes in a mere 200 pieces and any ducat collector should not miss it. It also serves as a valuable gift to the cradle thanks to the embossed year 2018.
