We celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the independent Czech Republic in 2018, when the traditional ducats of the Czech Republic are dedicated to the attributes that define our sovereign state and represent it inside and outside. Our constitution has become the motif of ten-ducat which is the largest of gold ducats.
The constitution is the basic and most important state law that confirms its creation and duration. It contains information about the form of state establishment, however it is not just a definition of the organization of power in the country. It presents the fundamental values, principles and traditions of society, guarantees citizens basic human rights and freedoms and declares their loyalty. The constitution looks into the past, which means it refers to the historical circumstances that preceded its foundation. However it looks also to the future and expresses ambition and determination to protect and build its own country.
The relief of the obverse side of ten-ducat, the author of which is the leading academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, presents an excerpt from the preamble, the introductory part of the Constitution of the Czech Republic, which is surrounded by three heraldic animals and the following text: TEN-DUCAT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC - CONSTITUTION. The reverse side is also dominated by the Czech lion, the Moravian eagle and the Silesian eagle. The symbols of statehood are completed with the inscription 2018 - 25 YEARS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC.
Gold mintage with the year 2018, the weight of which is ten times the weight of one ducat, comes in a mere 100 pieces.
